6th August Charity Ride At Giant Kendal

August 1, 2017

6th August, we are planning to do something a little different, with our regular Sunday ride from the rear of Giant Kendal.

Why are we riding?

One of our regular group riders and his family have recently lost their daughter, Zaphia.  Zaphia is believed to of died, as a result of a server chest infection.  Zaphia would of been 21 in a couple of weeks time, so we wanted to help the family raise some money for their chosen charity, which is called the Manna House, a charity which provides support for young people in getting them back on the right track. All our social rides are free of charge but on this particular ride we are looking for people to give a small donation either on the day or through the just giving page at the bottom of the page, if they wish to.

The Route

There is going to be 2 routes, both heading south, with their being a long ride option (of around 70 to 80 mile - heading to Garstang direction) and a shorter version (30-40 mile) to choose from, both with a cafe stop.

Both routes are heading South with the shorter route riding to the Kellet’s and the longer route heading down to Garstang.  We have organised a cafe stop on the longer route at The Barn (a cycling café in Garstang). As there is likely to be a few out we need to let the café know some numbers in advance. So if you are thinking of joining us on one of our rides that day please email events@giant-kendal.co.uk or reply on facebook.

Start time for the long ride is 8am, shorter ride is 9am.

It would be be great if we could help, Phil and Sharron hit their target.

To see why we are riding on this day, check out their Just Giving page and al the information at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/zaphia

if your planning on riding that day, please can you let us know beforehand so we can organise groups etc.
Please share and encourage people to join us and donate.
